Two Feet and Half a Foot

Julia Gulia gets married in a few weeks and I'm one of her bridesmaids. She wants us each to wear matching shoes and selected an ivory pair. I ordered them online and they arrived today. I was excited.
Then I tried them on.

Oh my golly goodness. These suckers have a small platform and a heel half a foot high. While Julia-Gulia has practice walking in heels this tall and actually looks natural in the process, my normally long stride immediately turns to an awkward shuffle the moment I put on these shoes.

I'm more into flats.

I like long walks on the beach. Heels don't allow for long walks.
I like leisurely strolls through parks. Heels don't allow for leisurely strolls.

I like fashion, don't get me wrong, but I also like comfort.

I'm not even really opposed to heels. I enjoy wearing them here and there.

It's just, well, wearing these shoes is going to be one, tall order.

I could never, ever wear those shoes. I’d either fall flat on my face or end up with excruciating back pain. Or both.
But they are lovely!
Best of luck – you may need it. ;)

I had to wear heels once for a wedding. I was in bare feet by the reception. My own wedding- flip flops.

I'm with Kelley, I bet you'll ditch them before the night is over. ahahahah. Hey, maybe take some video footage of you trying to walk. I'd like to see that! :)

saw this post and had to write...yikes....the trials and tribulations of being a bridesmaid......just make it down the aisle, up once, down once, then take them off and slip into something comfy!!! but most of all enjoy the festivities!

wow... they are pretty but look painful! good luck with that.... and Congrats to your sis! 1st wedding in the family, right? i wonder if little boy blue will get the same success rate when/if he asks everyone in the wedding party to wear something aesthetically pleasing yet orthopedically murderous...

Weren't you just in a wedding? Or at a wedding? I remember something about some statues... or maybe that was a year ago.

Bone, I atteneded a wedding at the end of last year. Good memory. As for the family, this is the first wedding for my family. My little sister is having to show the older siblings how it's done.

Wow those are some heels! Talk about pain after the wedding and reception. Be sure to practice walking before hand and break them in. I love the comparison photos. http://yeahyoucancallmecrazy.blogspot.com/

These shoes look so dangerous, but still...pretty. Good luck to you. I visit your blog randomly, and I found out you live in Georgia. I've missed my college dayz @ GSU in Gerogia.

they are gorgeous, but, like you said, extremely unconformable!!

Try those doctor scholls insoles.
There are products that can help you get firmer footing in heels.
and practice makes perfect. I often just walk around the house on tip-toes.

I tried that for Rachael's wedding. I found some heels I would normally never consider, Dalena said, "If you don't buy those then I will!" and then after a few days of looking at them and practicing in them I totally chickened out. I wore some that weren't as high but also not nearly as cute. :( and my feet still hurt afterwards.
