Sisterhood of the traveling earring

GREAT NEWS: I was accepted for a month long study abroad program to Spain during the month of July.

SAD NEWS: Due to ridiculous passport processing times, I will not be going to Spain. My passport should arrive shortly after I should have left.

OKAY NEWS: It's fine though. I strongly believe that Spain will still be there next year. Unless of course, Spain turns out like the USSR or City of Atlantis...

SILLY NEWS: Look closely at this picture. Where is my other earring? I didn't notice until after the picture was snapped that I'd lost half of my accessories.

Seems my earring will have all the adventures.

Jake just expedited his passport and it only took a week. That is kind of stinky you won't get to go this year, but you are definitely right, it will still be there next year. If only your earring could tell you where it has been.

Kassie, I found out the day AFTER I turned in my passport information that I'd been accepted. I tried calling the state office to expedite it but all phone calls and emails have gone unresponded to. Oh well...

You could just start a new look. Remember when it was supposively cool in the 80's for boys to wear one earring?

I can't believe you have such an optimistic outlook on the Spain deal. I would be bummed! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Yeah, I would be bummed about Spain too.

Hopefully the earring will send pictures.

The earring picture is something I would do! Once the bank took my picture to put on a credit card and lo and behold, that day I had two different earrings on. I didn't know until I saw the picture. Then every time I used that credit card I was reminded what a ding-bat I was that day. :)

Also...I'm going to Spain next June to visit a friend in Malaga. We are going to travel around the entire country for 2 weeks. Hope you get to Spain next year. You will love it!

Oh, man. Now that you've mentioned that earring I can't keep my eye off that jewelry-less ear.

I'm happy and sad for you about Spain -- seriously, you're taking it a lot better than I would. I'm going to start praying now that Spain doesn't hit by a meteor or something.

Too bad about Spain. Hopefully everything will fall into place for you next year!

It's not uncommon for me to forget to put in earrings, forget to put in the second earring, miss my earhole and it fall on the floor unnoticed, or wear two completely different earrings!

After looking at your picture though, I checked mine. All is well in my earholes!

Oh man, I was SO excited for you when I read the good news and then my heart just sank when I read the sad news....I'm so sorry...what a great attitude you have. And yes, Spain will be there next year. THank heavens because I've never been to Europe and need to get there someday myself! :)

The wait for a passport is ridiculous. I don't think I'll have mine back for two more months or so.

At least you can be optimistic about it.

I think they relaxed the rules a little due to the increased applications. All you might need is proof you have an application in process. It may only apply to travel to Canada or Mexico, though. Look into it. A trip to Spain is worth it.

Wait, something happened to Atlantis? What have you heard?

Sheesh what a lot of comments. Charlotte, more good news. The use of only one earing in one ear is actually VERY fashionable right now. No joke. In Brazil they sell one earing EVERYWHERE. Usually its a huge earing, like a peacock feather, but still.... seriously very fashionable in Brazil and all of south america for that matter, from what I hear.

Same thing happened to me when I was to go to Denmark for a summer programme. Except I did show up a fortnight late, and worked like crazy to make up for lost time. I got great grades, made some good friends, and took lots of photos. Wonderful time.

Oh, and Spain is beautiful. And I've only seen a little bit of it.
